I LOVE going to the beach but not the 40 minute drive to Malibu. Being stuck in L.A. traffic heading home is not fun either.
This is why I was excited to visit the Hansen Dam Aquatic Center, a giant community pool surrounded by a man-made beach!! It's only 20 minutes away!!
Lots of grassy areas but we found habitation right on the sand. The kids are getting older which means building muscle to help carry necessary equipment:

We spent FIVE, FUN, FULL hours at the "beach". It took us only 18 minutes to get home. We had just enough time to shower, dress, and head out to a sushi dinner when David got home from work!!
