The enriching lessons, high energy sports and skill-boosting camps are over. Downtime to reset accomplished. I even encouraged them to do absolutely nothing at times (besides chores) because the truth is, summer is the only chance they get. I've done my duty to get them refreshed for the upcoming school year. And even prepared them academically by forcing Khan Academy down their throats which left a bad after taste.
Now...it's the day before the first day. And...I...kind...a...want one more week with them? I know, I go back and forth. I truly enjoyed another summer with my babies even without checking in to any hotels or accruing airline mileage.
Here are some of our final weeks of summer life in pictures...
We had music in the house this summer!

Along with lots of cookies.

All different sizes!!

I hope she always remembers "mommy and me" in the kitchen.

I highly recommend Thomas Keller's roast chicken recipe from his cook book Ad Hoc at Home. I made it twice this summer!

Camp is where the wild things are.

Play at your own risk.

Party time!

Logan has the right idea.

My dad turned 77 this year.

I feel blessed to have him around so he can witness his grandchildren driving his children nuts.

Factory workers hard at work.

We weighed beans.

Packed macaroni. I loved using their heat sealer!

Discovered all the amazing products that are Costco returns.

We smelled good at times.

But Truman said he was getting a headache.

Presley's other team made it to the championship game!

Then he was asked to be on the all-star team. Now go back to #1.

Off came the basketball shoes and in came the mouth guard and cleats.

He is so excited for flag football season to start.

Jock of the family!

In July, we celebrated Truman's birthday.

I can't believe I have a teenager.

Rite of passage into manhood.

Look of a 13 year old like "ugghhh".

He told me he may not want to play golf in high school. What!?!?!?!?!?!?

We can't escape the light.

Or the heat.

But getting out does us good.

We brought back Sunday night dinners with the family. Seeing cousins is the highlight of their week.

Our plastic carbon footprint is embarrassing.

Brothers

Who doesn't love AYCE?

Sounds of water splashing in the backyard.

And dinners out mid-week.

It was so good while it last.
