Did I ever tell you about the time my 16 year old son got his first tech job? It was the summer of 2022 and Truman got paid to code.
My bestie, Jenny from up the Block said, " Hi! I think Truman would be interested in this opportunity." And I said, "Hi! When are we going to lunch?"
He applied and to my surprise got accepted. I didn't ask questions. I mean, he was getting paid, right? I don't ask a lot of questions anymore because one, I don't like the answers I get or two, I don't get answers at all.
Most of his work was done virtually, yet there were a few in-person sessions. I had to drive Truman all the way to Downtown, Los Angeles so he could collaborate with his team.
I'd drop him off on Grand Avenue and up, up, and away he went to the 33rd Floor. His team designed a website which qualified as one of only four websites the opportunity to showcase in front of executives from NBCUniversal, Google, and other tech companies.

Overall, he got paid to do what he loves. He learned how to design a website. Made new friends.
Figured out how to walk to Little Tokyo from Grand Street and back without stirring up trouble...and getting lost. And...to mark this exciting and eventful summer at his job, the company awarded him a certificate of achievement.
Truman has continued this Fall in their Leadership program. I'm not sure what that entails. I don't ask questions, remember? I just know he's getting paid.
