Brought a new plant home.

She has settled in nicely.

Getting my dose of vitamins thanks to Anna's church garden.

Plus tons of nutrients from Jenn's backyard chickens eggs.

Tried a new Little Tokyo spot from Kelly's restaurant database.

A few days prior, she sent me snail mail!

Near historic Old Pas.

I put it on my magnetic board right next to the magnet I got from her wedding 22 years ago.

Maintaining a positive outlook on a daily.

But emotional burdens can get the best of me.

And then I'm back to my weary self.

Life in ombre-colored glasses paints a much prettier picture.

Everything is optimistic.

Every person is good.

You see the world in a better place like she does.

More love.

Less heartbreak, right?

Our families HBD season is a humbling time.

It's when we celebrate special people.

And a reminder to appreciate life.

My favorite sister turned 52!

And my favorite middle child had a birthday too (always 14 days after Portia's birthday).

At 14, he's decided he doesn't want birthday cake anymore.

So I kept it chill.

Presley has many hidden superpowers.

Eating healthy is not one of them.
But every superhero has an Achilles heel. Fast food is his weakness.

By loving him, I remain blameless.

He would tell you in his pubescent, cracking voice that in Japan, fast food and eating healthy go hand in hand.

...Which leads to another superpower - ability to craft a persuasive speech.

He can convince you that thrifting adventures is thee place find "steals". We never did find those Jordans.

My sister ALWAYS remembers to send my kids gifts on their birthday.

Presley was actually sick all through January.

Bad for him. Good for me.

I got to baby him while he was too weak to resist my love.

Parenting self-willed kids is challenging. Let's just hope they remember some key life skills: grab valuable advice anywhere you can get it.

Take power naps.

Buy ice cream in bulk.

Surround yourselves with people who matter.

Never forget to look up.

Or look out.

And always keep a trusty suit/dress in the back of your closet. You never know when you might be invited to a bar mitzvah.

Encore shout-out warning: Happy 14th Birthday my gorgeous Presley. I couldn't do life without you. I love you so, so, so, so much.
