We're in Coachella Valley!

No, not for the shimmering swimming pools or amazing midcentury architecture.

But back to view Desert X's new art installations.

It's just a boys (and Mom) trip this time!

Same sand.

New art.

Obscure lines.

Sustainable materials.

Off-the-grid landscapes.

We always look forward to Palm Spring's charming eateries and endless outdoor patios too.

But, unfortunately, all the locally sourced culinary ingredients...

Couldn't mask the harsh weather conditions we endured.

We knew the drill.

We were familiar with endless cottonmouth and dry sinuses from 2023.

But unaccustomed to extreme high windstorms and sand twisters.

If we ever needed turbans and perhaps military grade goggles, now was the time.

There was no defeating mother nature.

The dust storms were so intense and painful to be honest.

Thankfully at the end of the day, we had shelter to recover from exhaustion and dehydration.

My heart was replenished.

And my soul was refueled.

Not gonna lie, REAL desert living doesn't suit this Asian suburban family. I'll trade in dust masks and saline drops for a bikini and pool-side pina coladas any day. The boys couldn't agree more.
